把自己以前看的英语资料慢慢整理出来,和大家共享,有错误的地方,希望能指出来。
因为文件的内容比较大,需要书和录音的和我联系,直接给传过去。
Lesson 1 How long have you been here?
这一课主要场景是美国移民局INS(immigration and naturalization service),
包括排队时的一个小对话和要填的表格内容的说明。
1. Vocabulary
warm-up 热身 名词
whereabouts 在什么地方 副词 Whereabouts?
2. Phrase
listen in 偷听,窃听,在一边听人说话,听广播 listen in on a conversation
wait in line 固定搭配,排队,类似的有stand in line sit in line
come in handy 迟早会有用
turn on the CD 播放CD
strike up 开始交谈,开始演奏 strike up a conversation
pick up an application 拿,取申请 Don’t forget to pick up your pay slip
get something off the internet 从网上下载
a bit warmer 暖和一些
see you around 回头见
3. Helpful sentence
注意从句的用法 You will listen in on a conversation between two people waiting
in line, which is something people unfortunately do very often,
and which is also a situation in which Americans like to make
small talk.
It is just的强调 It is just that we have been in this line for a long time.
省略句 That way I could have just stayed home.
完成时的用法 I have always wanted to visit.
4. 时态用法
一般过去时 The simple past tense expresses an action that happened when a specific
finished time is given.
过去完成时 The past perfect tense expresses an event that happened in the past when
the exact time is not known, or when there is a result or a connection
being made to the present, or when the time reference is still unfinished.
根据作者想强调的意思,两种时态可以互相转化
例:He has returned from his trip. (Emphasize that he is now home)
He returned from his trip. (perhaps this is part of longer narration of
events in the past)
5. Phrasal verb with pick
Pick up 接人,捡起来,拿,取,买东西,勾搭(有点日语男怕的意思)
Pick out 挑选,分离 Pick over 精心挑选 Pick on 嘲笑,作弄
Pick at 吃的很少,扯,拉 Pick up on 非意图性的知道,注意到
6. 美国社会介绍
美国人习惯和陌生人打招呼聊天,这是他们对人友好的表现,但是千万不要以为他们想
和你深交,掉过头,大家各走各的。
Have you ever heard a complete stranger say hello to you as you pass him or her on
the street? Don’t worry. This is not unusual. Americans often greet people they don’t
even know. They may talk to strangers while waiting in line, or comment on the
weather when standing in an elevator, or even strike up a conversation while sitting
next to someone at the public event. It’s true that this kind of behavior may seem too
casual, or even plain strange to others, but Americans consider this friendly. Of
course, these little pieces of small talk aren’t meant to discuss anything serious or
personal or make new friendship. When they end, the participants go their separate
way and rarely commit to any kind of social involvement. This is normal for
Americans, who often have a lot of acquaintances-at work, in their neighborhood,
at stores and restaurants, at the gym. But Americans also make important
distinction between casual acquaintances and close friends. |
